Scary Creatures in Reality and Wild Imaginings

In the realm of mortals, life may seem to be closing in on black and white. We lead our lives with the orientation that only the quantifiable, observable and overt are deemed to be true. However, in the realm of the endless, human beings are mere mortal creatures and truth is not a matter of great importance. It is a world where scary creatures lurk, ghosts and mummies cause mayhem, and humans are at the mercy of unfathomable paranormal events.

Many ghost stories and urban legends about scary creatures have been circulating throughout the years. Despite these, people are still skeptical as to the veracity of the ghostly figures in these stories. Stories can't seem to stand against the strong mantra "to see is to believe".

These scary creatures are described as undead entities that reanimate restless spirits wanting to take revenge for their untimely deaths. Ghosts are just some of these undead creatures lurking in the shadows of urban legends. Ghosts are restless spirits of dead people that usually haunt the place where they once lived. As depicted in films and books, these scary creatures haunt the living to search for justice and closure for their tragic deaths. However, not all ghosts are depicted as such. In some cases, ghosts just "hang around" us without any intention of causing some loud screams. They are stuck in between heaven and hell because their spirits can't rest in peace until they finish their purpose here in the realm of mortals.

Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville, Kentucky is said to be haunted by scary creatures we call ghosts. Once a two-story hospital accommodating tuberculosis patients, this place was allegedly the dying place of more than 8000 TB patients from 1911 to 1945. The worst cases of these deaths occurred during the outbreak of the disease in World War II. Documentaries and paranormal investigations said that there are small, child-like features caught on camera. Scary wails and screams are heard in empty rooftops and patios of the sanatorium. Moving shadows that have substance and are able to walk across doors are allegedly seen in places where dying patients are situated.

The current plan for the sanatorium is to transform it into a hotel to target the haunted hotel crowd and regular hotel patrons.

Villisca in Iowa, considered as one of the scariest places on earth, is also said to be haunted by the ghosts of the brutally murdered members of the Moore family. The murder itself was arguably one of the most infamous unsolved murder cases in American history. On June 10, 1912 was the last day when 6 members of the Moore family and their two young guests were ever seen alive. They were dismembered by an assailant who viciously killed them with an axe. The heinous crime is still a mystery to be solved by the authorities as the killer is still unknown to this day.

To this day, the Moore house is said to be haunted by the spirits of its former inhabitants. Curious visitors of the "Villisca House" claimed to have heard voices of children who didn't exist. Efforts have been done to renovate the house, but it seems that the scary creatures in the "Murder House" hinder the plan since the weather-beaten house is the only witness to the nightmare that took place in the Moore household.

Whether ghosts or other scary creatures are just figments of playful imaginations or a validation that the paranormal exists is still under scrutiny and discussion. As for now, all we know is that as long as there are unexplained phenomena occurring and haunting our dreams and wild imaginings, more stories about these forsaken and scary creatures will be told.

Savannah Georgia - America's Most Haunted City

In 2003, the American Institute of Paranormal Psychology named Savannah America's Most Haunted City.  And Savannah is able to support the title.  Ghosts, apparitions or paranormal activities have been reported at many of Savannah's inns, restaurants, private residences, and of course, cemeteries.

There are many magnificently restored buildings nestled around Savannah's twenty-one squares.  Many of these buildings are stately homes supposedly still occupied by former owners.  James Habersham has been known to roam around the Olde Pink House, now a restaurant, but formerly his home.  Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts, was born and raised in Savannah.  Her parents, long deceased, are said to still roam Juliette's childhood home.

Savannah's Sorrel-Weed House, visited by The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) in 2005 as part of their SciFi Ghost Hunters Halloween special, is supposedly haunted.  The story goes that Mrs. Weed caught her husband in a compromising position with one of the Weed's many slaves.  Mrs. Weed, very distraught, ran back to her second-floor bedroom.  After a long argument with her husband, she either threw herself (or was thrown) to her death from a second floor balcony.  Soon after Mrs. Weed's death, the slave found with Mr. Weed was found hung in her slave quarters.  Both women are said to be still roaming the grounds.

The Hampton-Lillibridge House was said to be so haunted, that Jim Williams (of "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" fame) had an exorcism performed at this former boarding house.  On countless occasions, residents and passersby have heard the sound of jazz coming from inside the home.

The Kehoes were a very prominent family in Savannah, as Mr. Kehoe owned the ironworks on the riverfront.  The Kehoes built this fireproof, all-iron home and lived there with their 10 children.  The Kehoe's heirs sold the house in 1930 and the property changed hands many times to include use for 65 years as the Goette Funeral Home.  It is now a beautiful bed and breakfast where many of its visitors report supernatural occurrences such as a woman screaming, a nurse shushing visitors, the Lady in White making appearances, and several instances involving ghosts of children.

The list goes on and on!

So, what is it about Savannah that makes it so attractive to ghosts and ghost stories?  Many people start with the fact that Savannah is literally built on its dead.  Savannah was the first city in Georgia founded in 1733.  It was established in the same location as the Creek and Choctaw maintained their burial grounds.

As the colony began to grow and thrive, it needed more room.  Buildings were erected on the burial plots of the original colonists.  Tombstones in cemeteries were moved to make room for sidewalks and roads.  Places of worship were erected on the graves of slaves.

Second, Savannah has a very violent history.  Many bloody battles and skirmishes were fought in Savannah.  One of the bloodiest battles of the American Revolution, the Siege of Savannah, where about 1200 men lost their lives in one hour, was fought in Savannah.

Also, the city has been victim to many city-wide fires, at least two yellow-fever epidemics and several hurricanes.

Third, Savannah has been a major port city since the days of King Cotton, so many a sailor has ventured through Savannah spinning a romantic tale or two.

Fourth, Savannahians are (proudly) an eccentric bunch, as were their ancestors, which adds history and volume to the ghost stories.  Take the

Lastly, I blame the large amounts of Spanish moss hanging from the majestic oak trees.  The blankets of moss look like ghostly shrouds and give the entire region an eerie look.

Whatever the reason, the ghost stories are endless, earning the Savannah the right to the title of America's Most Haunted City.

Marketing a Haunted House: Putting Spirit in Your Sales Pitch

Sellers are finding it difficult to attract buyers in this time of economic uncertainty and tougher mortgage standards. But what if you have a little something special that none of your neighbors have, like something that goes bump in the night? If your home is plagued with houseguests of the undead kind, you face a unique challenge in trying to sell.

Houses where suicides and murders have taken place are generally avoided by the average home buyer. The grim history of the house can scare away a great number of people who are afraid that bad mojo may still be lingering. So what do you do if you hear noises, feel spontaneous cold breezes, or see ectoplasm oozing from power sockets?

Hiding your "houseghost" from potential buyers won't get you very far, especially if the haunting is common knowledge in the community. In terms of your legal obligation to disclose a haunting, responsibilities vary by state. Either way, if you try to keep this vital information from a buyer, not only may they try to sue you later, but your karma will be shot as well. It's best if you're straight with people about the condition of your home, both structurally and spiritually.

You may ask, "But if I'm honest about the house, how on earth are we ever going to sell it?"

The answer is good marketing.

Like with any property, you need to appeal to a target market. Ask yourself who would want your particular home. Certainly it has desirable qualities like a good location or granite countertops, but what sets your house apart from the rest of the neighborhood? It's a resident ghoul or goblin! Use this to your advantage and try to attract buyers who are dying to live with the dead.

While it may seem strange to some, there is a niche market out there for haunted real estate. There are even websites that host ads from buyers who are eager to break bread with a spirit. These sites provide a great opportunity to network with buyers who are looking for a home just like yours. You can reply to a buyer's post if it sounds like a good fit, or post an ad of your own in the sellers' section.

Note, if you can produce proof that you have an apparition, your home will be a hot commodity on the haunted realty circuit, so keep your camera handy!

Another way to get the attention of haunted house seekers is to start writing a blog that details your ghostly experiences. Many paranormal aficionados are tech-savvy, so they often start their home search online. If you blog regularly, your home is much more likely to get noticed by your target market than by relying strictly on print advertising. Create a buzz about your property, and you'll soon have a lineup of ghost-loving buyers at your doorstep.

Find out where these buyers like to hang out online. Post in paranormal related forums and advertise on radio programs that deal with the supernatural. Performing a Google search for terms like "paranormal radio" or "haunted real estate" should give you a few places to start.

When you have people viewing the home, be sure to have a brochure to available upon entering. Include a history of the home if you're able to, and share a couple of your ghostly encounters. Your guests will be greatly intrigued, and may decide that the high jinks of a poltergeist are just what they're looking for in a home!

By getting to know your target market, you can better appeal to their needs. Visit the websites they visit, listen to conspiracy radio programs like they do, and soon you'll know just what to highlight in your ad and get yourself a genuine buyer.

Scary Creatures of the Night: Scariest Hotels in the World

Partying, dressing up as demented creatures of the night, trick-or-treating---We all have our own take on how to spend the season of fright. Since Halloween falls on a Friday this year, another option is to fulfill that dream holiday that has long been overdue.

Holiday trips are dandy and exciting, but when unseen scary creatures of the night hitchhike with you, the word holiday goes down the drain. Furniture flying, creepy sounds reverberating, horrific images of paranormal all around---If the whole universe decided that Halloween is your unlucky star, these are least of the things you would encounter on your trip. On the other hand, if the universe really hates your guts, your hotel experience while on a trip might just be your worse nightmare.

So before deciding on where to spend your long exotic Halloween weekend and mark up the holiday fright, read a roundup of the scariest hotels in Asia that would really make you wish you hadn’t gone out of the house this Halloween

Buma Inn (China)
The Chinese really take this paranormal stuff seriously. Anyone would when the paranormal event includes scary creatures of the night going berserk. Buma Inn in Beijing is haunted by a rampaging ghost out to take revenge. Apparently, a guest in the inn years ago was poisoned by the hotel chef. Guilt-stricken, the hotel chef consequently killed himself after the crime. The horror didn’t end there. Until now, the restless ghost of the murdered guest haunts the hotel looking for the chef who poisoned her.

The Savoy Hotel (India)
Positioned in one of India’s capital, Mussoorie, The Savoy Hotel became the inspiration of Agatha Christie’s novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles. The hotel doesn’t only offer luxury, but an unwavering supply of fright, as well. Its former owner, Lady Orme, who allegedly died of poisoning, is said to be haunting the opulent hotel. This scary creature of the night was reportedly seen aimlessly wandering the halls of her former hotel.

Tambun Inn (Malaysia)
The Tambun Inn is one of the favorite hotels in Ipoh, Malaysia. Apparently, wandering tourists are not the only ones crazy about the hotel. Scary creatures of the night are said to be haunting the hotel, as well. Many accounts of ghostly events have been documented. Some of these accounts mentioned about lights turning on and off, sounds of whispers and eerie cries heard in the inn. There was also a report about a ghost of an old woman spotted within the vicinity of the inn.

Toftaholm Herrgard (Sweden)
Everybody loves a romantic story, but putting scary creatures of the night in the mix might change some people’s mind about liking them. In Sweden, a hotel named Toftaholm Hergard, a love story ala Romeo and Juliet took place between a commoner and a baron’s daughter. However, the baron had his daughter married off to someone else leaving behind her hapless lover. On the day of the wedding, the lover hanged himself from the rafters. His spirit is said to haunt Room 324 where the rafters once were.

The Nottingham Road Hotel (South Africa)
A hotel in KwaZulu-Natal is such a relaxing place that would make any guest want to stay. On the other hand, the guests aren’t the only ones convinced that it’s comforting to chill out in this hotel. A ghost of a former barmaid is still roaming the hotel moving pots around the pub, opening beer tags, and ringing the service bell. The ghost was also said to have deflated the tires of certain guests who, it turned out, are poor tippers.

Haunted Ogden

By day, Ogden appears as a typical small town in Utah, but by night, this quiet little community awakens more than its share of spooky happenings.

Ogden was not always such a friendly community. In the late 19th century it was full of opium dens and brothels along 25th Street. Many were connected by underground tunnels that were the scenes of violent acts. In fact, for a short time, Ogden was known as the "murder capital" of the West! Today, walk along 25th Street at night and you may hear the sound of popping noises on the pavement. This was where the prostitutes would drop dried beans from second story windows to attract customers. Some believe many are still there still looking for business.

The Bellshire Hospital, once an old mental facility, has a violent past and has been the scene of many paranormal sightings. Legend has it, the doctor managing the hospital had a reputation for implementing experimental treatment methods on patients. Today people have heard blood curdling screams that seem to come out of thin air, or see figures staring out of the windows. An encounter with a young girl occurred during a recent ghost hunt. Today, the hospital has been converted to an interactive fright theater during the Halloween season.

The Ben Lomond Hotel is a popular destination by ghost seekers. Apparently in the 1940's a woman staying at the hotel got word that her son died in World War II. She returned home, but she must have enjoyed her stay because many say her spirit has returned and haunts the hallways. There are accounts of the elevator stopping at floors where no button has been pushed. The front desk has received calls from room 1106 when no one is occupying the room. If you visit, be sure to request one of the haunted rooms.

The Union Railroad Station was once a temporary morgue where spirit sightings and unexplained events are common. The most popular tale (with many versions), is of a lady in a blue dress who was arguing with her lover. She quickly turns to run away, steps in front of an oncoming train and is killed instantly. The figure of a woman dressed in blue and crying while running across the rail yard has been spotted over and over.

Dead Haven was a popular Halloween haunted house that has its own eerie past. Although it's entertained many uses over the years, the building in the 1920's was a farm implement store located in the wrong part of town. Two apartments across the street burned down, killing 2 occupants, and the area was the site of many accidental deaths and murders. Paranormal experts theorize that there are still wandering souls in the area. Ghostly figures have been spotted and the sound of children's laughter has been heard at night when the building was empty.

Members of Utah Paranormal Exploration and Research spent an evening staking out the corridors of this creepy place in search of hard evidence of a haunting. In one of their recordings, a voice could plainly be heard saying, "Who's there?" Other than some flashlights that suddenly refused to work, and shots of a bobbing light appearing through the camcorder of another investigator, the night was fairly uneventful.

Is Your House Haunted by Scary Creatures of the Night?

Your house is your sanctuary. You live in it, spend most of your life in it and deem it as the only place in the world where you can truly be yourself. Like a castle to a king, your house is your domain. Your house is where you rule and conquer. But what if it turns out that there are other unseen creatures of the night roaming in your said dominion?

It is rather difficult to mark a line between a door being shut because of strong wind and a door slammed by ghostly spirits. Though random events such as this could already spell out ghost hauntings, true ghost hauntings are still rare occurrences. The fact that it is so rare might actually make you a bit paranoid whether the eerie sounds you’re hearing, figures you’re seeing and the windows suddenly closing are really signs that your house is being haunted by scary creatures of the night.

To help you ease that paranoia, I’ve listed some signs that determine whether your house is haunted. Read them and determine whether you have experience such.

1. Unexplained Noises
You are all alone, but you hear strange foot steps outside your room. Not only that, voices of children playing in the garden can be heard, as well. The weird thing about it is that when you looked outside, no one was in sight. The sound differs from time to time. Sometimes, you hear the sounds of chains clanking or a faint cry of a woman during the night. You can’t explain where these strange sounds come from, and most of all, they bring chills up and down your spine.

2. Furniture Being Moved
You placed your coffee table beside your favorite couch. For some strange reason you can’t wrap your head around, you would walk into the living room next morning to find the coffee table moved to a different spot. You thought someone in your family must have done it, so you pass it up and let the strange event go. Just when you think it’s over, you wake up one day and open your eyes to find pieces of furniture all over the place in random spots. Clearly, one of those creatures of the night wants to make its presence known.

3. Creepy Apparitions
You point the camera and click the button. The picture comes out perfectly with three of your friends smiling, but a blurry creature seems to be caught by your camera, as well. In another instance, you look into the mirror and see the reflection of a hazy image behind you making your knees tremble with fear. If this has happened more than twice in your house, consider the thought of seeking a paranormal expert’s help.

4. Strange Feeling of Being Watched
You don’t see anything strange or hear anything spooky, but you always feel like someone is watching for you. The thought is enough to send chills up and down your spine. This usually happens in a particular part of the house.

5. Animals’ Weird Behavior
Your pets suddenly act in a strange way. Your dogs bark at no one and have that scared look to their actions. According to paranormal experts, animals have a way of knowing and sensing whether there are evil creatures of the night co-habitating in your house.

These are just some of the signs of a haunted house. If you’re unlucky, stranger and more damaging events might occur in your domain. Unfortunately, not everyone is sensitive to these signs of abhorring ghost hauntings.

So what do you do when you have already deduced that your house is haunted? Don’t waste time and call a paranormal expert to appease the spirits in a more appropriate way. Do so immediately and don’t wait for the ghosts to be destructive. This might seem surreal, but it is a sure way to put to rest the creatures of the night wanting to dominate your house.

It’s now time for you to ask yourself, “Is my house haunted??

Are Real Ghosts Haunting the Web?

There seems to be an overwhelming amount of "real ghost" footage floating around the internet these days. This is exciting for some ghost lovers and disappointing for others. The videos and pictures are often very convincing and offer what some consider to be real proof of ghosts.

Unfortunately, there is another side to this double edged sword. Although it is always fun and exciting to witness these amazing ghost pictures and videos, the truth is that many are not real ghost videos at all. Rather, a very bored or desperate persons attempt at fun or glory. This is frustrating for many who strongly believe in the existence of ghosts and have spent time and money in an effort to capture legitimate evidence. Many have succeeded at this and there are lots of great examples of ghost evidence out there.

Evidence of real ghosts definitely exist, but most has been overlooked and taken less seriously due to the huge amount of similar examples available on the world wide web. When someone sees a great piece of ghost footage or picture, they often react by immediately assuming that it is a hoax or a fake. This is not surprising and the person having this reaction cannot be blamed. They have likely been exposed to way too many pieces of "evidence" created by a bored fifteen year old with decent computer skills. Sadly, even real ghost hunters and investigators have resorted to fabricating evidence in an attempt to convince people that ghosts really do exist.

This action taken does not in anyway prove that ghosts do not exist, but tends to discredit the actual evidence available. Certain people who know in their heart that ghosts are as real as the sky is blue, desperately want others to know it as well. Paranormal Investigators should think very carefully before doing something like this. The impact on the field that they love is bigger than they think. Fortunately, most ghost hunters and paranormal investigators are genuine, honest and do not in any way support this kind of behavior.

There are also many sites on the web dedicated solely to sharing different types of ghost footage. The subject discussed here can even make things difficult for the site creators to do their work. Most ghost sites will put out the best available to them and let visitors judge for themselves. Truthfully, it really is the best and only way to do it. Many ghost sites are capable of sparking an interest in the paranormal by providing this type of footage in an entertaining fashion. Many examples of really great ghost evidence can be found on these sites. There is definitely not a lack of ghost pictures and videos out there to be seen, but ultimately it is up to you to decide what you consider credible evidence. This will remain true until science ultimately proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that real ghosts are in fact, haunting the web.

Developing Your Supernatural Abilities - Answers To 3 Questions On Psychic Self-defense

1. Do people have supernatural powers?

The word "supernatural," according to Webster's Dictionary, means "beyond the visible observable universe" or "what appears to transcend the laws of nature." However, the word has taken on different connotations today. We tend to think of "supernatural" to mean the same thing as "paranormal," meaning not scientifically explainable. Not exactly the same, but very close.

For many philosophers and scientists, supernatural abilities are mystical powers. They call to mind ghosts and spirits and things that go bump in the night. They laugh at psychics and mediums. They discount anything supernatural as phony and deceitful.

But supernatural abilities aren't so uncommon. Intuition is a supernatural ability. Telepathy, a trait common to many twins, is a supernatural ability. In many ways, creativity is a supernatural ability. These things are not, in fact, super-natural. They are completely natural, inherent human qualities. They lend a sense of wonder and mystery to life and make the world a magical place.

In history, there are many records of times and events when the supernatural was something to fear and destroy. Burning witches, trials during the Inquisition, even some modern persecution reveals a deep-seeded fear of anything we can't explain or understand.

Thankfully, modern societies are a little more accepting of the concept and a little more open to exploring its qualities. Some scientists are conducting experiments to document supernatural abilities. And the explosion of television programs about hunting ghosts and exploring the paranormal support the notion that the supernatural is with us today.

In fact, we all have "supernatural" qualities, that is qualities that seem to transcend the laws of our physical universe. Each of us has at their core a spiritual energy center that radiates about us in what is called an aura. This energy field or cocoon reflects our general condition - the combination of our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

To have a strong healthy aura, we must be strong, healthy people. Healthy people with good mental attitudes, balanced emotional lives, and spiritual strength have strong bright auras. People who are ill, mentally or emotionally distressed, or spiritually poor have weak dark auras. It is possible for negative people, dominated by negative energies and influences, can actually drain the energy from positive people and even injure them.

To strengthen our spiritual energies and our aura, we must rid ourselves of our negative aspects. We must engage in careful introspection to identify harmful thought patterns and negative emotions that block us from spiritual growth. We must replace those negative energies with positive energies.

One way to do that is to re-connect with nature. Fresh air and warm sunshine fill us with positive energy that overwhelms pessimism, anger, and stress. It gives us the opportunity to build our positive energies and cultivate our super-natural abilities. In turn, we are motivated to follow a healthy positive lifestyle. The journey toward spiritual growth and a strong healthy aura begins. And we can begin to develop our psychic self-defense skills.

2. What is psychic self-defense?

People use many different approaches to protect themselves against danger, injury, and harm. We intuitively know when we're in danger. Frequently, that unnamed fear leads us to anxiety and flight. However, it is very important to remain calm in these situations.

Psychic attacks, or those times when negative energies or influences assail us, are the frequent causes of such unfocused fear. In order to prevent and avoid negative energies, we must have a strong spiritual core and aura. This requires us to reduce and eliminate the negative energies within and to nurture our personal positive energies and strength.

In situations where you feel threatened, you may be responding to a psychic attack. Your fear and anxiety actually feed the negative energies assaulting you. You must remain calm and unafraid. Keep cool and focused. Use relaxation techniques like deep breathing, focusing on pleasant thoughts and memories, and get in touch with your spiritual center. Refuse to focus on the negative, and concentrate on the positive.

Focus on your surroundings to find positive energies to support you. Rely on the power of your healthy aura to protect you. Do not allow yourself to feel fear or anxiety or you will open the door to negative power.

3. How can I build a stronger aura?

The first step in spiritual development and developing a strong healthy aura is introspection, eliminating negative energies from your mind, body, and emotions. You must look inside to see where you are being fearful, angry, selfish, or intolerant and smash those emotions and ideas. They are not real. They are by-products of the negative energy. You must cleanse yourself of these and replace them with positive thoughts and emotions. You must change your perspective.

There are many practices and techniques that are effective in strengthening the aura. First, and most effective, is meditation. Meditation clears the mind, relaxes the body, and allows you to connect with your spiritual core and your innate super-natural abilities.

Do some personal research in areas that may have seemed "out-there" before. Investigate eastern philosophies, astrology, and paranormal science. Learn what you can about the full range of human qualities so that you can tap into these qualities inside you. Join a yoga class. Investigate holistic healing and herbal remedies to rid your body of chemical medications and clean out modern toxins. Try acupuncture to help you learn to relax and to relieve pain without medications.

Fine-tuning the supernatural is largely a matter of getting in touch with the natural. It's reducing and eliminating our dependence on modern chemistry and increasing our reliance on the healing powers of nature. It's focusing on non-technological activities and interests and returning to more traditional arts, music, and creative pursuits. It's learning more about the full range of human abilities and talents and attending less to what academicians and scientists limit us to.

As you broaden your internal horizons and nurture your positive spirit-based energies, you'll have a stronger, healthier aura that will protect you from negative energies and psychic attacks.

Twilight And The Urban Fantasy Phenomenon

The huge success of the Twilight books, written by Stephanie Meyer, and the subsequent feature film adaptation starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, has brought the Urban fantasy genre to the forefront of genre publishing. SF and fantasy purists may disapprove, but we must all appreciate the fact that Twilight, and things like Buffy before it, have been good for genre publishing as a whole. Why? Because series such as Twilight, Harry Potter and similar franchises are bringing more readers to the genres that spawned them. While these books may not be the best written or best plotted things on the market, they are opening up the minds of young readers to the realms of fantastic fiction in all its forms. Look at it this way: The Twilight books are finite, and once young readers have finished reading the series, they will look for similar titles to read until the next Twilight book comes along. These could be the dark fairy-tales of Neil Gaiman, the vampire hunter books of Laurel K Hamiltion, the varied urban fantasy of Kelley Armstrong, or the excellent vampire novels of S. Roit (aka Sherry Roit), such as the impeccable Paris Immortal. Many bookshops now contain a dedicated Urban Fantasy or Paranormal Romance section, and while SF and fantasy purists such as myself may have our issues with their contents, these books are bringing a new audience into an industry that desperately needs new readers. Some argue that this is not the case, with Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy readers sticking to similar titles once their favourite series comes to an end, but many of these people will move on to other titles as they mature and their tastes change. The paranormal and fantasy genres have always gained from the addition of popular movie tie-ins and movies themselves, and rather than being empty, vapid pieces of trash fiction, they are the doorway to a universe of wonder for new readers to discover. The same goes for movie and TV tie-in merchandise and tie-in novels from franchises such as Star Wars, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Buffy and so on- they help strengthen the publishing industry by offering brand familiarity to people who may not usually read. Twilight has brought a number of young teenaged readers new icons in Edward and Bella, but there are so many other characters and stories for them to discover. See Twilight as a stepping stone to greater things, and welcome the new fans that stick around into the genres of fantasy, science fiction and horror with open arms.

April Fools Day - The Psychic Connection

For most of us around the world we know April Fools day to be a day of pranks and trickery. It can be great fun to trick someone into believing something that isn’t true. James Randi however takes this one step further and what many may not know is that April Fools day is also the day that the Pigasus Award is announced.

The Pigasus Award has gone as far back as 1979 and is given annually by James Randi who is a noted skeptic of psychic energy. The award seeks to expose paranormal, parapsychological or psychic frauds that have been noted over the previous year. Appropriately given on the first of April, Randi awards the trophy to candidates chosen by himself from a list of nominees.

The trophy has been noted as being a stainless steel spoon bent in a curve and supported by a plastic base. It is flimsy at best and done so on purpose. There is also a plaque with a flying pig on it. Randi has stated sarcastically that the winners are published immediately after being announced on April Fools and are notified telepathically. He has also said that the famous Flying Pig trophies are sent via psychokinesis and if not received then it is probably due to their lack of paranormal talent.

Though the Pigasus awards are not done every year, there is a long list of recipients spanning from 1979 including famed psychics Nostradamus, John Edward, Sylvia Browne and Allison DuBois. The White House has also been a winner. For a complete list of other famous recipients visit Wikipedia and search Pigasus Award.

April Fools day may be a day of pranks and laughter for some. For James Randi however it is an opportunity to ridicule some poor unsuspecting person or institution that he feels has promoted fraudulent paranormal claims. To all of us who are believers in psychic energy – beware of the Pigasus award!  As an April Fools day joke from Randi, it may telepathically wind up on your doorstep.

Find out who the winners of the 2009 Pigasus Awards are and decide for yourself whether their psychic claims are real or a hoax.  A complete list of recipients can be found at YourPsychicResource.

Find Out What Shaman Consciousness Is and How You Can Use It

Shaman Consciousness

If you thought being psychic or having some extra natural power was eerie, then it is time you change that outlook.  Today, there are researches and studies that go all the way out to prove that it is quite possible and feasible for the human brain to understand and know a lot of things that are above the normal limits.  Science and technology don’t give you all the answers and there are still certain themes and concepts that defy the common laws of logic and reasoning.  That is why there are still certain unexplored and unexplained facts that we see in our day to day life that is apart from our reasoning abilities.

ESP or extra sensory projection is one such common phenomenon that has been accepted worldwide as a special power that certain human beings do possess.  The most common explanation that we are able to provide for this is that they are able to get their brains and the mind function at an extreme frequency that most of the commoners are not able to even dream of and this is what in turns helps them receive the ‘signals’.

Find Out How To Increase The Ability To Use ESP

The ability of some of our very own folks to receive these signals in the first place and then decipher them to meaningful messages is indeed an art and is definitely praiseworthy.  Though there are quite a few paranormal abilities that can be a big study in itself, let’s limit ourselves to the discussion on the extra sensory projections.  All said and done, all these abilities lie in the efficacy of the process and the skill of the person to tune their brains to read the innumerable messages that are floating around that the normal public cannot comprehend.  Also important is the ability to hold your brain in the same frequency level for long intervals whereby the message transaction is complete and comprehensive.

Rome was not built in a day and you cannot expect to get to the highest psychic level the moment you start off.  However, this is very much possible and you can get to where you want, if you are keen to get there – with some help.  We are here to help you get to the state of extreme sense of paranormal abilities.  Our frequency modulators help your brain to tune it to the frequency that is required to get into, to receive and decode these mystic messages.  If you try it once, then you would know what a celestial feeling it is to be a psychic like this.

Though there are no complete explanations to these paranormal abilities, there are a lot of places where this skill is being capitalized on and it is definitely an asset if you are able to get yourself to that state.  Amidst the hassles of our everyday life this is indeed a new and unheard of experience and will play a vital role in getting your blood pressure and tension levels down.  Like they say - you need to see it to believe it, you need to try it to believe it!

Confessions of a Skeptic

How shall I put this? I do not believe in reincarnation. Not in this lifetime. I think Fitzgerald got it right; there are no second acts. One day I will die and that will be that.

Thus stands like a rock my unflinching opinion on the subject.

So, when my agent -- who believes in everything except me -- asked me to write a book about reincarnation, I said, "Sure."

Why pick a hard-core skeptic, a journalist, (for God's sake!), a Cassandra marinated in the smoky cynicism of H.L. Mencken to write a book about something as gauzy and hopeful as faith. It would be like turning the rationalist fox (no relation to the irrational media Fox) loose in the paranormal henhouse?

Obviously, he needed a doubting Thomas, a disbeliever, a cranky cynic to demonstrate that the fix wasn't in. Who better to vouch for the integrity of Disney World than a certified grouch?

And then there's this interesting other question: why would I take such a job?

The answer is simple. I don't know. I do like to look into forbidden rooms, I watch Hannity (just to scream at the set), I poke at a sore tooth. I once told Ed Koch how I thought he was doing; (he didn't appreciate the opinion, but as I always say, don't ask and I won't tell.)

Who should ghost the book? Bridey Murphy? Some gullible slave to the outré opinions of the occult?

No, me, a reliable nay-sayer. I saw my duty and backward into the past I marched.

There was, of course, a catch. In order to do this book, I would have to sort of "pass over," in a manner of speaking. That is, the child who is the subject of this book lived in Lafayette, Louisiana -- the Deep South -- a part of the country in which I have had more than one near-death experience.

In 1971, when I was a reporter for Newsday on Long Island, I rode with Charlie Evers (the brother of the slain NAACP civil rights leader, Medgar Evers,) as he campaigned for governor of Mississippi. We rode all over the Mississippi Delta and as we drove across the exposed highway, I heard the sound of bullets whizzing past our windshield. Snipers in the trees. Charlie kept a loaded pistol on the seat of the car in case we got a flat. A spare tire in that part of Mississippi in the early '70's was not enough.

So that's how I remembered the south. With fear and disbelief.

But this was 2007 and James Leininger lived in the quiet coastal plain of Louisiana -- a town called Lafayette. There were no Obama posters, but there were storefront poker palaces and fast-food stretches and a decent hotel. (At one chicken restaurant, as I waited in line for lunch, the manager loudly fired the entire staff, then came out and asked if anyone on the line wanted a job. I went to find a McDonald's.)

Bruce and Andrea Leininger were a handsome couple. Not unsophisticated. She had been a ballet dancer in New York and he studied political science at Columbia University under Zbigniew Brzezinski. Now he was working in human relations in the oil industry.

When I got down there, and we started to work on the book, they did not have a clear idea of how this story unfolded -- just that something miraculous had taken place to their son James under their roof. It was a painful and awkward process -- putting it all together, getting the sequences right, checking out the details, finding the right structure. Together, we drew up timelines and made charts and put it down on paper:

In the year 2000, when James had just turned two, he began to shout in his sleep -- not always coherent -- but it seemed to be about a World War II pilot killed in the battle of Iwo Jima. At first, it was just a kid having nightmares. But slowly, over a period of time, the child, James Leininger, began to deliver incredible accurate details, speak coherently, add uncanny facts -- minutiae about the pilot -- James Huston -- his life and history. The information he divulged was of such breadth and diversity that it became impossible to dismiss, and even now, even as I still do not believe in reincarnation, I have no reasonable explanation for that unwinding story.

I've heard people say, oh, he must have been coached, or influenced by watching TV. But this was a child in his diapers, still sucking on a bottle. How could he be coached to know the flight characteristics of World War II era fighter planes? How could he know the names of the ships and the sailors who had taken part in a certain battle at a certain time?

James Leininger had been examined and tested by Carol Bowman, an authority on the subject of children who have supposedly experienced "past lives." She vouched for his authenticity. James had already appeared on television (a media vetting that has popular, if not scientific standing), and was recognized by the paranormal community as the most authentic case of an American "past life." Children experiencing "past lives" is a well-established (albeit controversial) field of paranormal studies. Several universities have departments devoted solely to its study.

It was always Bruce's intention to debunk his son's story. He was an evangelical Christian and thought that proof of reincarnation would damage his faith -- one life, one soul, everlasting. Andrea accepted her son's claims and didn't attach any particular religious significance to the whole thing. But Bruce was dogged. Over time, he found that there was an annual reunion of members of the ship that his son had named as his own in his sleep. If he could prove that there were no Corsairs (the plane that James insisted he had flown in the war), he would have made his case that the story was not true and his faith was safe. Bruce began to attend the reunions of surviving crew members of Natoma Bay -- an escort carrier that took part in the battle. He gathered up facts, all confirming the data fed by his son James, all also confirming that there were no Corsairs on Natoma Bay. He held onto that discrepancy as a holy chalice.

But something odd happened. During the course of his quest to debunk the story, Andrea tracked down the families of the dead crew members and eventually found James Huston's sister, Ann. The sister had never had any contact with the ship or with the reunions. Still, she was curious about James Leininger, and, finally, sympathetic to his claims to be her brother. She was old and it was hard for her to travel from California, however, so she sent a batch of photographs of her brother taken during the war. And in a couple of the photographs, there was James Huston standing in front of a Corsair.

There were other odd things -- when she sent James Leininger a drawing that her mother made of James Huston -- the child asked where was the other picture? The other picture -- buried up in the attic for sixty years -- was a drawing of Ann. Her mother had made two drawings when they were children. How could James Leininger have known that? Ann was stunned. No one knew about that other picture. Except her dead brother.

As I say, I don't believe in reincarnation. I hardly believe in carnation. I am a secular, rationalist skeptic. But I have no reasonable explanation for James Leininger/Huston.

Challenges of Selling a Haunted House

Disclosure:

Disclosing whether a property is haunted or not can work for or against the seller. Some buyers are specifically looking for a residence with a ghostly presence, while others would turn tail and run at such a suggestion. Either way, if a seller knows something about a property and fails to disclose it, they are setting themselves up for a possible lawsuit. In some states, a seller must disclose whether a death has occurred on the property within the last three years.

Information that a home may be haunted can affect the value of the house and most certainly should be mentioned, since it's doubtful the buyer would make that discovery on his own before purchasing. The rule of caveat emptor, or buyer beware, can be used as an argument when the possibility of a home being haunted was not disclosed prior to a sale. Even if the owner has no solid evidence, if he cannot deny the existence of ghosts, it is enough for a court to declare a contract void and have the deposit returned.

Value: Generally a home suspected of being haunted is priced according to fair market value, and then adjusted depending on buyer interest. Such was the case with a Nottinghamshire property purchased in 2007. The family thought they had found their dream home when they bought Clifton Hall, a 52-room country estate dating back to the days of William the Conqueror.

The structure appeared innocent enough, until the family moved in. After enduring months of ghostly voices and bloodcurdling screams, the owners enlisted the aid of paranormal investigators. Even science couldn't intervene and the hauntings continued. Unable to share their home any longer with these creepy tenants, Clifton Hall was put up for sale about one year later for £2.75m, and almost £1m less than they originally paid. The property was finally sold, but never returned to its status as a residence, and is currently being utilized as a conference centre.

Haunted houses may take longer to sell:

Actor Nicholas Cage, knowingly purchased the old Lalaurie Mansion in New Orleans' French Quarter in December 2006 for $3.45 million. Built in 1832, this home was the scene of horrible violence and is known for its paranormal activity. Although the Cage family spent time in the house, they never stayed overnight. In the fall of 2008, the actor put it back up for sale for $3.55 million, and it remains unsold as of the writing of this article.

In some cases when there is a history of well publicized violence, homes don't even get listed. Such was the case In St. Catharines, Ontario, where the home of serial rapist and killer Paul Bernardo, was bulldozed and sold as an empty lot. On the other hand, home of Sharon Tate, the scene of the Manson Family murders, was sold at full value. The new owner tore it down and rebuilt a new mansion on the prime real estate site.

Although most people would not actively search out a haunted house, there are those who consider a such a residence a bonus.

An ad on the site for San Diego Paranormal Research states:

"The San DiegoParanormal Research Project will teamed up with your Professional Licensed Real Estate Agents to assist with the buying and selling of allegedly Haunted Houses and property throughout the United States. We will also handle requests for regular houses."

Apparently there is a market for haunted houses, and they will assist you in locating one that is truly authentic. Various hotels and inn's often gain publicity and added business from advertising the fact that their establishments are haunted.

The Cashtown Inn, built in 1797 was the scene of many deaths during the Civil War. The current owners make no effort to hide this fact and advertise such specials as "Ghosts of Gettysburg Weekend Investigation Package with MARK NESBITT and his Investigative Team," where guests can actually attend a ghostly investigation. During "Catch the Spirits Weekend," guests receive special tours of the Inn, including the basement, and learn about the ghostly happenings in the area.

Hotel California Song Analysis

It has been speculated that the Queen Mary might be one of the most haunted places in the world. Hotel California Song AnalysisReports say that as many as 150 known spirits have taken up residence and lurk in various locations all around the ship.

The Queen Mary sailed her maiden voyage on May 27, 1936. Built in Scotland to be used as part of a two-ship express service from Southampton to Cherbourg to New York, the Queen Mary is 1,000 feet long, and in her day was said to be bigger, faster and more powerful than the Titanic. She also held the record for the fastest-ever North Atlantic crossing. The historic ocean liner's passengers included the most celebrated people of the time, including royalty, top entertainment figures and important world leaders.

At the start of World War II in 1939, luxury travel stopped and the ship was turned into a carrier ship that was used by allied forces to carry troops from March of 1940 to September of 1946. It was during this time that she would become known as "The Grey Ghost". By the end of World War II, the ship had carried more than 700,000 troops, traveled over 500,000 miles and played a significant role in almost every major Allied campaign. She also survived a collision at sea, set the record for carrying the most people ever on a floating vessel (16,683), and participated in the D-Day invasion.

When the war ended, the Queen Mary was refurbished and started up her elegant cruises again in July, 1947, with weekly service between Southampton, Cherbourg, and New York. By the early 1960's, the popularity of transatlantic cruises greatly decreased due to the increasing affordability of air travel. The ship attempted to revive its popularity, but without central air conditioning, outdoor pools, or other amenities offered on most other cruise ships, the attempt was unsuccessful.

In 1967, the Queen Mary was pulled from service and was sold to the city of Long Beach, California, to be used as a maritime museum and hotel. On December 9, 1967, she made her final voyage to Long Beach.

During her 60-year history, the Queen Mary was the site of 49 reported deaths, opening the doorway for potential spirits to haunt her. Reported hauntings include a young crewman in the engine room, swimmers in the first-class pool, a man in black, and a woman in blue. Some of the Queen Mary's most haunted places include the propeller box, engine room, boiler room, cargo hold and first class swimming pool.

One of these hauntings is thought to be the spirit of John Pedder, a fireman in his late teens who was crushed to death by a watertight door in 1966 during a routine drill. Unexplained knocking has been heard around the door, and a tour guide reported she saw a figure dressed in dark clothing as she was leaving the area where the young man had been killed. She saw his face and recognized him from his photographs. He was dressed in blue coveralls and sporting a beard. The young man has often been seen walking along Shaft Alley before disappearing by door number 13. This famous door was used in the filming of the Posiedon Adventure and has reportedly crushed at least two men during the ship's history.

The first-class swimming pool seems to be a hot spot for ghostly encounters. Wet footprints mysteriously appear even though there's not a drop of water in the pool. These footsteps lead from the deck of the pool to the changing rooms. Women in vintage bathing suits are occasionally seen stopping by for a swim ,even though the pool has been closed for more than 30 years. There have also been reports of seeing the spirit of a young girl carrying her teddy bear along with disembodied voices, laughter and splashing sounds.

In the second class pool area the spirit of another little girl named Jackie is often been seen and heard. The girl drowned in the pool during the ship's sailing days and doesn't seem to want to move on. Her voice and the sound of laughter has been captured in this area.

In the room that was used as the third class playroom, there have been reports of the sound of children crying in the nursery room. There is also a report that a single baby's cry has been heard. This crying is thought to be that of an infant boy who died there shortly after he was born.

In some of the first-class staterooms there have been reports of a tall, dark haired man wearing a 1930's style suit showing up in various places. In addition to sightings of the man, the faucets and lights get turned on in the middle of the night, and phones ring in the early morning hours but no one is ever on the other end of the line.

There are several other reports of sightings about the ship including a beautiful young woman in an elegant white evening gown who dances alone in a shadowy corner of the salon, which was once used as the ship's first-class lounge. Another mysterious woman in white has been seen close to the front desk. She will usually disappear behind a pillar.

Other phenomena that has been reported throughout the ship include the sounds of knocking, doors slamming and high pitched squeals, drastic temperature changes, and the recurring smells of another time.

The Queen Mary has been investigated by a number of paranormal professionals, printed publications, television shows like Ghost Hunters and Most Haunted, and several others. In addition to portions of the movie "The Poseidon Adventure" being filmed there, the X-Files filmed a 1998 WWII era episode about a time warp in the Bermuda Triangle aboard the ship. That was a great episode - it was called "Triangle" - you should check it out if you missed it!

On the Ghost Hunters episode, what was thought to be a fantastic paranormal event caught on tape turned out to be not so fantastic as it appeared someone had tampered with the video camera. So is the Queen Mary really haunted or not? The Ghost Hunters are heading back out there in February of 2008 to see if they can find out. Hopefully there won't be any tampering this time and they can capture some evidence to support all the claims of paranormal activity on the Queen Mary.

Discover And Enhance Esp And Psyhic Power Easily In Minutes?

If you thought being psychic or having some extra natural power was unlikely, then it is time you change that outlook.  Today, there are researches and studies that go all the way out to prove that it is quite possible and feasible for the human brain to understand and know a lot of things that are above the normal conscious limits.  Science and technology don’t give us all the answers and there are still certain themes and concepts that defy the common laws of logic and reasoning. We know that the brain responds to certain sound frequencies, and we are now able to produce the precise frequency required so that you can discover and enhance your psychic ability quickly and easily.

ESP or extra sensory projection is one such common phenomenon that has been accepted worldwide as a special power that certain human beings do actually possess.  The most common explanation that we are able to provide for this is that they are able to get their brains and the mind function at an extreme frequency that most of us are not able to even dream of and this is what in turns helps them receive the signs or signals.

The ability of some of us to receive these signals in the first place and then decipher them to meaningful messages is indeed a gift, or a curse as some may say! Paranormal activity is a massive subject, but here we will concentrate on ESP.  All said and done, all these abilities lie in the efficacy of the process and the skill of the person to tune their brains to read the innumerable messages that are floating around the universe that the majority of us cannot comprehend.  Also important is the ability to hold your brain in the same frequency level for long intervals whereby the message transaction is complete and comprehensive. So if we can give you the ability to hold the frequency, then you can truly discover your psychic powers and begin your journey of development and enhancement.

Do you Believe That Ghosts are Real?

Ghosts are different things depending on who you ask. While 32% of Americans believe in ghosts, according to a 2005 Gallup poll, there is a divergence of opinion as to what constitutes a ghost. Parapsychologists are in favor of the term, apparition, because it's purportedly more precise. An apparition is considered immaterial, but it can seem real and tangible. There are a variety of entities that qualify for the catch-all term, ghost, and here they are, in no particular order.

The spirit of a deceased person could make itself known in its former habitat, i.e., a home or office. In this case, the ghost is said to have a likeness to the deceased either in appearance, behavior, or vocal imitation. Of course, it may not be an imitation!

Other common uses of the term refer to angels or demons, or even as a synonym for a person's immaterial spirit, whether or not they're presenting themselves to others.

Ghosts are portrayed as having a semi-transparent, unspecific form, loosely resembling the person they once were. Their motives are helpful, ominous, or treacherous. Their motions are transient because they pop in and out. They're often seen fleeing or scurrying. Of course, reports abound, and these are only a few examples of the alleged behavior of ghosts.

Ghost mythology is common in every ancient culture - from the Egyptians, to the Chinese, to the Europeans of the Middle Ages Ghosts were thought to be the disembodied soul of the person they once inhabited.

Parapsychologists study ghosts as part of their living. A parapsychologist seeks to understand paranormal phenomena. Paranormal phenomena is described as any phenomenon or occurrence that exceeds the bounds of what is possible, according to the established principles and laws of science.

Skeptics charge the controversy with several explanations for suspected ghost sightings. For instance, Scientists Richard Lord and Richard Wiseman explain that sound waves having frequencies less than 20 hertz are normally inaudible, nonetheless, they may cause someone to feel a presence or shift their mood to anxiety or dread. Carbon monoxide poisoning was cited as a cause for haunted houses as early as 1921 because it can cause hallucinations, ill feelings, and a sensation of dread as well.

Another condition, pareidolia, is a condition that causes someone to recognize human faces or forms in random patterns. That's kind of like a case of seeing what you anticipate, hope for, or want to happen, instead of just seeing. Skeptics aside, extraordinary sightings and stories flow in from all corners of the world at large.

Let's take a look and see whether or not ghosts might have a scant possibility of really existing.

The New Testament acknowledges the existence of demons, the real spiritual beings that tempt, lie, deceive, and physically harm humans. According to the Bible their intention is to turn people away from God, from the best interests of the human and what will make then happiest, and to try to cause humans to think that they're smarter than the All mighty loving God. Jesus gave humans the power to cast out demons and walk over the enemy. We have a shield of protection through Christ's blood. A study of the gospel and the historical teachings of Jesus as it relates to angels and demons is too important and is a separate area of study outside of ghosts.

But, before we begin, let's move on to the ghost stories of the world.

The face of Martha Rendell, the only female to be executed at Fremantle, appears in the window of the church frequently. The face seems to be produced by ripples in the glass that reflect light in an abnormal way, but the resemblance is eerie.

In China, Tuen Mun Road in Hong Kong is apparently causing excessive death tolls due to "ghosts popping up in the middle of the road". Drivers avert the apparitions by veering their cars quickly and end up crashing. Hundreds of people allege that this highway is haunted, and many claim to have lost complete control of their automobiles.

Traveling to England we find a case with some substantial evidence, no pun intended. London's primary criminal court, the Old Bailey, has an uninvited guest at major trials. Judges, barristers, and policemen attest to this strange apparition.

Even Mount Everest has its ghost in resident, probably the ghost of climber, Andrew Irvine, who tried to reach the summit in 1924 with George Mallory, but disappeared on his journey upward. Two climbers in 1975 said that they occupied a snow hole with him, and other climbers have seen a ghost too.

Ireland has the Temple Michael, a quint church and castle positioned on the blackwater river, with a close proximity to Youghal, Co Cork. The place is not used, and it overlooks the blackwater river. Visitors and local inhabitants of the region claim to have heard shrieks, screams, lights in motion, static on cameras over the church grounds, twigs that break without explanation, and coffins that close and open of their own accord.

In Japan, the tomb of Masakado near Tokyo is said to be haunted by the ghost of Masakado. During the 1920's, the Office for the Ministry of Finance was built on top of it. In 1926, the minister of finance and 10 staff members died of disease. The tomb was restored. After WWII, however, they attempted to construct over it again. The driver of the bulldozer died, however, when it overturned.

The most haunted abode in Scotland is the Close of Mary King in Edinburgh. It was built in the 1600s, and it contained hundreds of people during the plague of 1645 when they were quarantined. Voices, dogs, and a lady clad in black have all been recorded.

Several fables, stories, and accounts arise out of the United States. One of particular interest is the Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville, Kentucky. It used to house tuberculosis patients and people refer to it as the most haunted place ever. More than 60,000 unconfirmed deaths have been reported and the owners of the property, construction workers and maintenance staff, and paranormal investigators have claimed one can see unnatural lights and phantasms darting around the premises at night. The hallways and rooms are filled with appearances of ghosts.

It is clear that immaterial entities exist because Jesus cast these personal and evil beings out of people. They shrieked and screamed and cursed, and this was written about as an account of real events by the meticulous doctor and historian, Luke, in the gospel of Luke. Get protection from spirits through Jesus Christ. Whether or not they're actual people or vicious demons, Jesus has all power in heaven and on earth, and it says this in Matthew 28:18.

Paranormal phenomena are alive and well because the physical world isn't all there is.

Are Psychics Real?

If you have ever wondered "are psychics real?" you are not alone. Many people ask them selves this very same question every day. The answer is often not an easy one but for thousands of years, people have turned to psychics, and clairvoyants for love, romance, and life advice. Some say psychics even have the ability to communicate with the spirits of the departed.

However, over the years claims of spiritualism and psychic powers have been so widespread and the reports of its effects so numerous and impressive that it was inevitable that scientists would be attracted to the alleged phenomena. Parapsychology the science that studies these phenomena focused on many areas including telepathy, clairvoyance, hypnotism, spirits, spiritualism, and the history of spiritual manifestations.

Although Parapsychology is still considered a fringe science by many scientists it still merits the attention of renowned educational institutions such as Princeton University and Berkley. Princeton offers the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) degree and the University of Berkley in California awarded the only American accredited degree in Parapsychology to Jeffery Mishlove in 1980. But in saying this I am putting the cart before the horse.

The pioneers of modern Parapsychology began using the experimental approach to psychic phenomena at Duke University in the 1930s under the direction of Joseph Rhine. Subsequently Karl Zener one of J.Rhines associates developed the world renowned Zener card test for testing ESP abilities using the scientific method. These ESP tests were conducted at Duke University in one of the first Pavlovian conditioning laboratories.

Parapsychology progressed throughout the 20th century and adopted current technology as it became available. The use of more sophisticated methods of paranormal investigation advanced as technology did. In modern times advanced electronic equipment is often used to test for psychic phenomena. This is because paranormal events reportedly cause energy disturbances across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. Some speculate that energy is drawn from the surrounding environment to power psychic events. Modern day paranormal investigators monitor these environmental energy changes with a variety of modern instruments including EMF detectors, temperature sensors, static electricity detectors, ionization detectors, motion detectors, EVP recording devices, RF detectors, and radiation monitors.

So, whether you believe in psychics, paranormal activity, or spiritualism the fact of the matter is there is currently hard scientific data documenting the anomalous psychic events which occur in the everyday world around us. In addition for thousands of years unexplained phenomena have been documented throughout history. Are millions of people crazy? I think not. I assure you that the spiritual realm does exist and I am not alone in that belief. Many scientists, layman, and spiritualists share the same views about our universe. Even some world renowned physicists speculate the need for more than one dimension to explain life as we know it.

My best advice is to try to keep an open mind and an objective outlook about things that we do not fully understand. that is unless you believe the sole criterion of reality is our limited human ability to quantify, tag, and label it. After all we can not see the wind but we do see the affect it has on the leaves as they blow about. Does this mean wind does not exist just because we cannot see it?

In closing I leave it up to you the reader to decide for your self the answer to the question at hand. But, know this my answer to the question "are psychics real?" is yes. Psychics, psychic abilities, spirits, and ESP are real whether you believe in them or not.
